Meet the team

Ben Speight
Head of SportBusiness Group

Ben Speight began his career with SportBusiness Group in August 2003. Starting as a researcher for TV Sports Markets, he worked his way up to associate editor before being promoted to the head of research in 2007. As head of research he was responsible for publishing some of the group’s best selling reports. Since 2011, Ben heads up all market intelligence products and services for the group, incorporating TV Sports Markets, Sports Sponsorship Insider, and the market intelligence and consultancy unit. Ben is an avid Aston Villa fan and can be found watching or attending tennis, golf, rugby and cricket events most weekends.



Frank Dunne
Frank Dunne began his second spell as editor of TV Sports Markets in May 2010, having edited the newsletter first from 2001 to 2003. In the meantime, he worked as a freelance football writer on Italian football, including covering the ‘Calciopoli’ match-fixing scandal for the Independent and the Juventus doping trial for the Financial Times. From 1992 to 1999, he worked as a travel journalist. Frank’s passions are football and music. He supports Manchester United.


Kevin Roberts
Founding Editor, SportBusiness International

Kevin has a unique and highly informed perspective on the sports industry, having worked at a leading agency from the early 1990s before the launch of SportBusiness International in 1996. Kevin has interviewed almost every significant leader of world sport - from Blatter and Rogge to Ecclestone and Goodell - for the magazine and on stage at conferences worldwide. His writing frequently reflects his overriding concern for the preservation of the integrity of sport, without which the industry is dead in the water.

Robin Jellis
Editor, TV Sports Markets
Robin Jellis joined SportBusiness Group in February 2013 as a reporter for TV Sports Markets and Sports Sponsorship Insider. He began writing solely for TV Sports Markets in December 2013, and became editor in June 2015. He covers sports media markets across Europe. Robin previously worked as a sports journalist at Sportsbeat press agency. Robin covers all sports, but is particularly interested in cricket, football and tennis. He is an NCTJ-qualified journalist and has a BA History degree from the University of Warwick. He also has the misfortune of supporting Luton Town, who play in the fourth tier of English football. Robin is fluent in French.



Callum McCarthy
Reporter, TV Sports Markets
Callum joined TV Sports Markets as a reporter in May 2015 and mainly covers Africa, the Middle East, Russia, Turkey and Portugal. He began working as a journalist while still attending school and has previously worked as a writer and editor for a number of publications including The Hockey News and Arts London News. Callum enjoys live music, travelling and a wide range of sports, but particularly loves football, cricket and mixed martial arts. He once ran the 100 metres in 23 seconds – his personal best. Callum is possibly the only person ever to break a leg taking a throw-in.

Matthew Glendinning
Editor, Sports Sponsorship Insider

Matthew Glendinning has been writing on the business of sport since 1996. An experienced journalist and editor, he joined the SportBusiness Group full-time in 2007 and has edited a raft of in-house and client publications, including Qatar Sport, the official magazine of the Qatari Olympic Committee, and Peace and Sport. Matthew is a former contributor to The Economist and its annual magazine, “The World in...”. He has been a Spurs supporter since the days of Hoddle. 



Mike Kiernan
Analyst, SportBusiness Intelligence

Mike joined SportBusiness Intelligence in February 2013 after completing a Masters in Sports Business at New York University. Prior to this, Mike spent five years at NetResult in London where he helped sports rights-holders including Uefa, the ATP and WTA Tours, the Rugby World Cup and the Tour de France, protect their broadcast rights. At SportBusiness, Mike works on projects for sports rights-holders, broadcasters and agencies, and is responsible for maintaining our sports rights database. Mike is also responsible for the publication of Watching Brief, our sports television audiences bulletin. Mike is a sports addict and can be found most weekends playing as a centre-half or middle-order batsman, or attending live events where the standard is considerably higher.

Tom McMullen
Sales Director

Tom joined Sport Business Group in June 2016 in order to lead the sales team and to build on the success of their successful Sport Business International,  Sport Sponsorship Insider and TV Sports Markets brands. Having started his career in advertising sales, Tom has gone on to lead information sales teams across several business to business media brands. He is a keen rugby fan who supports Newcastle Falcons.

Paul Santos
Head of Key Account Development

Paul Santos’s experience within the business of sport spans over 10 years, advising clients on how best to maximise SportBusiness Group’s portfolio of products, services and solutions in order to help them achieve their business objectives. For the last five years he has specialised in the business of sports TV, broadcast, media rights and sponsorship. He is responsible for managing and developing key accounts across the group. Paul is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, lives in the red and white side of North London and holds a season ticket to his beloved Arsenal FC.

Scott Longhurst
Account Manager

Scott Longhurst joined the team in 2013. His focus was originally on new business for TV Sports Markets and Sports Sponsorship Insider, and he now works across the whole SportBusiness portfolio. Previously, Scott worked for an online technology company where he was in charge of the French market. Scott speaks fluent French. He has an MSc in Politics and International Relations. Scott is an avid Arsenal fan and has a keen interest in African football.


Patrick Odling
Account Manager

Patrick joined the team in March 2014. After graduating from the University of Birmingham with a BA degree in Geography, Patrick enjoyed a short-lived semi-professional football career before travelling the world for 11 months in 2013, realising he is perhaps more suited to playing keepy uppy on Copacabana Beach than in the lower leagues of English football. He enjoys playing and watching most sports as well as collecting Football Memorabilia.


Max Frew
Account Executive

Max joined the team in September 2015. After graduating from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences he joined the Client Services team where he focussed on engaging with clients to ensure they get the most out of the services SportBusiness Group provide. As of April 2017 Max joined the account management team. A keen runner and boyhood Wycombe Wanderers fan, he dreams of the day that the Chairboys lift the coveted Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Robin Hume
Head of Media Sales
Robin started his career at the Telegraph Media Group where he spent more than 10 years selling multi-media solutions and managing teams across multiple industry sectors. Most recently he worked for the ad tech company Adform, before joining SportBusiness International in early 2014. He claims to have been a proficient rugby and football player  'in his day', but has now retired from competitive sport to concentrate on his family, fine food and socialising.
